A first in sports games: three cover athletes!

While games have done the dual cover athlete cover a few times, MLB The Show 25 has announced that they will have three athletes on their cover this year. All three of these young men are considered the next big things in baseball and it's great to see their accomplishments enshrined on the game's cover.

While cover athlete news is nice, the juice in this information bottle was that MLB The Show 25 is not coming to previous generation consoles...except for the Nintendo Switch. It is a strange announcement, given that the current Switch's hardware is more in line with a PS3 and even the leaked specs from the Switch 2 is slightly above PS4 hardware.

It makes a gamer wonder if San Diego Studios will be able to change some of the complaints about the series. We've heard from gamers, either through social media or content creators, that certain animations have been in the game since the PS3 era. I'm not sure how much of a glow up the series can get while still taking on the Nintendo Switch.

Regardless, that wasn't the only major piece of information to drop. According to Theshow.com: "The game will not be on platform subscription services in 2025." While saying it diplomatically, MLB The Show 25 will not be on Xbox's Gamepass service this year. That's a major change from previous years, which saw MLB The Show 23 and MLB The Show 24 on Gamepass.

MLB The Show 25 will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch on March 18th with preorders going live on February 4th.
